Wireless laptop

Although some people think a wireless laptop cannot print to a local printer without a cord, the fact is that advancements in technology now allow for this printing to occur. In order for this to happen, a wireless router can be used to create a connection between the printer and the laptop.

In order to print, the first thing that must be done is to establish a connection between the router and the printer. If the printer is able to connect without wires, then cords are not necessarily needed. On the printer, push “menu” and connect to router should be one of the options. If the printer is not wireless, the router and printer can be connected with a USB cord.
Next, the router and the printer both must be turned on. A wireless laptop to printer connection cannot be made until all of the devices involved are turned on. After the laptop has been turned on, the user can click on the “wireless connection” icon on the bottom of the Windows Vista desktop. This may or may not detect the router. If the router is not detected, simply hit “refresh” and it should be.

By going to the control panel and then choosing “Add New Printer” a wireless laptop will be able to find the printer and complete the process that needs to be done in order for the wireless laptop to be able to print to the printer.
These setups are especially helpful for people who bring laptops to meetings and want to be able to print items off as they see them, even though there might not be a physical connection between the wireless laptop and printer.
