Laptop memory

A person who feels he needs more laptop memory can do so by following this process:

• Turn off the laptop – This sounds logical enough, but the fact is that if a person tries to upgrade the memory before the laptop is completely turned off, serious malfunctions could occur. Remove the battery to completely turn off the laptop. The battery is almost always located on the bottom of the laptop.

• Find the RAM –The laptop should then be turned over to find its memory compartment. If the memory compartment is not easily found, check the owner’s manual, which should be able to let a person know exactly where to look.

• Know about RAM – Before a person starts this whole process, he should know what kind of RAM the laptop memory uses. Changing the type of RAM could damage the laptop.

• Grab it – There should be a clip that is holding the old laptop memory in place. In order to remove the memory, take hold of the clip and push it upward.

• Get new RAM – Now that the old laptop memory has been removed, install the new RAM. Carefully examine the RAM in order to make sure that it is completely intact before installed. This is especially important to do with used laptop memory.

• Place – Simply place the new RAM into the same area where the old laptop memory was removed. As soon as the computer is rebooted, the computer’s operating system should be able to recognize the new laptop memory.
