Laptop battery

One of the worst feelings for a laptop user is to have his laptop battery run out of energy while he is working on an important project or assignment. In order to reduce the likelihood of something like this happening, a laptop user can do a few things. They include:

• Reduce brightness – By reducing the brightness of a laptop screen, the laptop battery is able to operate for longer. A person who turns down the brightness by 50 percent can often increase battery life up to an hour or more.
• Disable unused devices – There are some devices with laptops that are constantly on unless they are manually turned off. For example, wifi and Bluetooth applications can both be disabled when they are not used in an effort to allow the laptop battery to save some energy.

• Reduce activity – The activity of the hard drive can be decreased in order to increase the power left on the laptop battery. A person can reduce unneeded activity by disabling unneeded start-up items in the taskbar. Also, virus programs that run in the background can be disabled to improve battery life.

• Defragment – Most laptop operating systems have defragment options that allow the user to clean up items that might slow the computer down. When there are items that slow the computer down, the hard drive needs to work harder. And when the hard drive needs to work harder, it must take its energy from the laptop battery.

Of course, doing things like installing more memory can reduce the amount of work a laptop must do as well as increase battery capacity, but to avoid spending money to improve the effectiveness of the laptop battery, the aforementioned tasks cost no money at all.
