Desktop computers
One of the reasons why buying desktop computers can be
more fun than even buying laptops is because desktop computers typically
cost less, but have more functions available on them.
A person buying desktop computers must first decide on an operating
system. Computers that use Windows-based operating systems are the most
common and the easiest to find applications for. On the other hand,
computers with Mac-based operating systems are often better for easy-to-use,
nearly virus-proof software and systems.
Before deciding on specific types of desktop computers, first consider
if the computer and applications will work well with a laptop of another
computer. For example, if a person creates a lot of Keynote presentations
on their Mac computer at work and they want to be able to also work
on them from their desktop computers at home, they need to have a Mac
because PCs will not open them.
On the other hand, Mac computers can open both Keynote as well as PowerPoint
applications as long as the software is installed.
A person buying desktop computers does not typically need to have the
same size of a budget that a person buying laptops must have. Most new
laptops are going to cost upwards of $800, but it is extremely common
to be able to find desktop computers for less than this price. Of course,
there are some high-powered desktop computers that will cost much more
than this price as well, especially if a lot of extra computer software
applications need to be purchased.
