Computer mouse

A dirty computer mouse can make it much more difficult to precisely operate. Fortunately, it is fairly easy to clean a computer mouse. In order to clean a mouse:

• Check the manual – An owner’s manual for a computer mouse should always be checked first. Doing this will help eliminate the possibility of further damaging the mouse.

• Shut it down – Some people prefer to completely shut down their computer before the mouse is removed. This is not absolutely necessary, but can be done. However, it is always important that the mouse is completely removed from the serial port or USB port.

• Turn around – After the computer mouse has been removed from the computer, it should then be turned around. After it is turned around, the person cleaning should unlock the ball cover ring. This can be easily done by turning the ring in the direction the arrows on the mouse indicate. If there are no arrows, a person should simply push and turn counter-clockwise.

• Remove the ball – The rubber ball inside of the mouse should then be removed. If there is obvious debris on it, sometimes it may be best to brush it off, however, rinsing the ball with warm water is usually the best way to remove the ball of dirt. A cotton swab covered with alcohol can also help clean the ball.

• Wait and re-assemble – Lastly, a person cleaning a computer mouse simply must wait for the ball to dry. He can then re-assemble the computer mouse and use it, as it should now work fine.
